New Beginnings Nutritional’s Antioxidant Formula is specially designed to protect the healthy cells in the body from free radicals and oxidative damage with a highly effective combination of potent antioxidants. Free radicals are unstable chemicals formed in the body as a result of normal metabolism as well as exposure to toxic metals and chemicals in the environment. When free radicals build up, they can attack healthy cells, which can contribute to a number of degenerative diseases. In numerous research studies, antioxidants are shown to help promote a healthy cardiovascular and immune system, and more importantly, provide protection against cancer causing environmental toxins. Children with special needs and all individuals suffering from chronic illness need extra antioxidant protection to reduce their levels of oxidative stress if wellness is going to be restored. Supplementing with multiple antioxidants at least 2x daily is also recommended for people undergoing detoxification therapies and for all individuals wishing to maintain good health.

Natural Beta-Carotene with Mixed Carotenoids – Our natural beta-carotene is extracted from a potent source of Dunaliella salina sea algae, as well as other immune boosting carotenoids including alpha carotene, cryptoxanthin and zeaxanthin. Beta-carotene efficiently quenches chemical reactive species that can impair or destroy important cellular parts such as membranes, nucleic acids (DNA) and enzymes. The body is able to use beta-carotene by converting it into active Vitamin A only as needed; therefore it cannot contribute to vitamin A toxicity. Numerous studies have demonstrated that beta-carotene is not only an effective antioxidant, but it is also important for normal immune function. Beta-carotene and other caratenoids are present in certain fruits and vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and green leafy vegetables.

Buffered Vitamin C – Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, providing protection from free radical damage to the eyes, lungs, blood and the immune system. Vitamin C also inhibits Candida and promotes wound and gut healing. Vitamin C is also critical during the first phase of the body’s detoxification process. This process occurs in many types of tissue, but it is especially active in the liver. When the body is exposed to toxins, Vitamin C is often required for the body to begin processing the toxins for elimination. Excessive toxic exposure is therefore a risk factor for Vitamin C deficiency. Buffered vitamin C is less acidic and less likely to cause stomach upset.

Complete Vitamin E with mixed tocopherols/tocotrienols – New Beginnings Antioxidant Formula, includes only the natural isomers of vitamin E, including d-alpha, d-beta, d-gamma, and d-delta tocopherols from Covi-ox®, a gold standard source for this ingredient. Several studies indicate that mixed tocopherols are more effective than d-alpha tocopherol alone in quenching free radical and preventing disease. Tocotrienols are a part of Vitamin E family, and are considered to be even more potent than the tocopherols as antioxidants. Besides being important for normal immune function, vitamin E also protects the liver and other tissues from the free-radical damage of toxins such as mercury, lead and many other hazardous environmental chemicals.

N-Acetyl L-Cysteine – N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC) is a precursor to the amino acid, is well absorbed in the intestinal tract and has been found to significantly boost glutathione levels in persons who are deficient. Adequate glutathione levels are especially important for children with special needs who may need extra support for their immune and detoxification systems.

Grape Seed Extract – Grape seed extract is derived from the small seeds (and occasionally the skins) of red grapes and is rich in flavonoids, and phytochemicals.

French Pine Bark Extract (Pinus pinaster bark) – Masquelier’s ® Pinus pinaster bark  is a potent natural antioxidant derived from the bark of the French Maritime Pine located just outside of France. A form of pine bark extract (as pycnogenol) was shown in a study to help reduce hyperactivity and improve attention, concentration and motor-visual coordination in children with ADHD.

Both Grape Seed Extract and Pine Bark Extract provide a rich source of proanthocyanidins, which are among the most powerful natural free-radical scavengers yet discovered. Proanthocyanidins are known to be 50 times more potent than Vitamin E and 20 times stronger than Vitamin C. They are one of the few antioxidants that are able to cross the blood barrier of the brain to provide extra protection against free radicals in the nervous system and circulatory system. In addition, proanthocyanidins are able to regenerate and extend the life of vitamin C and E in the body, and have the ability to provide antioxidant protection for up to 3 days. Other positive benefits of proanthocyanidins include anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine properties as well as support for the immune, circulatory and vascular systems.
